Netcare911 paramedics stabilised the girl on scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital.

A 14-year-old school girl was injured when she was struck by the mirror of a vehicle on the R55 road in Centurion, Pretoria, on Wednesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said: “Reports from the scene indicate that the girl was crossing the road at the time of the accident.”

Mathe said Netcare911 paramedics stabilised the girl on scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital, Rekord Centurion reported.

The exact cause of the accident remains a subject for police investigation.

In a similar incident, a man believed to be in his early 30s was in a critical condition after he was struck by the mirror of a truck on Atlas Road in Pretoria last month.

According to Athlenda Mathe of Netcare 911, the man was apparently crossing the road when the incident happened at 12.30am.

When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the man lying next to the truck in a critical condition. Paramedics immediately intubated him to assist him to breathe.

He was stabilised by an advanced life support paramedic before being airlifted to hospital by the Netcare2 helicopter.
