Police are investigating a case of armed robbery after a man was followed home from a bank and robbed at gunpoint in Pomona, Kempton Park, on the East Rand.
The three armed robbers allegedly monitored the victim from a Standard Bank branch in Benoni, where the victim had withdrawn R8 000 on Friday, Kempton Express reported.
The robbers, travelling in a dark Mercedes Benz, followed their target closely until they finally cornered him.
Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Captain Jethro Mtshali said the incident occurred at about 2.45pm.
“The male victim said he noticed the dark Mercedes Benz pull up in front of his car. One of the robbers emerged from the vehicle, went straight to him and pointed a firearm at him,” Mtshali said.
The suspects demanded the R8 000 cash he had withdrawn earlier.
Helpless, the man handed over the money, and the robbers fled the scene.
Investigation are ongoing.
