Police are still looking for two men who robbed a prison in Pretoria on Sunday.

No arrests have been made after two men robbed a correctional centre in the east of Pretoria on Sunday, reports the Pretoria North Rekord.

A case of business robbery has been opened after the men robbed Baviaanspoort Correctional Centre at gunpoint.

Kameelpoort police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said: “Two assailants, driving a green City Golf, forced guards of Baviaanspoort Correctional Centre to open the gates around 00:50.”

Shibambo said the men were led to the safe in the guardroom where they stole two firearms, a cellphone and a laptop and then fled.

He said they were still waiting for more information from the investigating officer.

The guards were not harmed during the robbery.

Shibambo made an appeal for assistance with any information that could lead to the arrest of the two men.
