Following Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Felipe Ovono’s penalty saves during Saturday’s Maize Cup win against Platinum Stars, the club has decided to remove his name from the transfer list.

Ovono was amongst the players put on the transfer list by Pirates after an unsuccessful season, but  Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral believes that the Equatorial Guinea shot-stopper’s presence can offer the club variety in their goalkeeping department, hence they decided to keep him.

“That’s why I brought him back. He is great goalkeeper, we know that. Jackson Mabokgwane is also a good goalkeeper, so we have some good competition,” Ertugral told Kickoff.

“Ovono is great and doesn’t have to prove himself in South Africa. I don’t know what the problem was, I was not there. We know he is a great goalkeeper, and it’s a pleasure to have him.”
