The traffic officer who was arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe is expected to appear in Witbank Magistrates’ Court, in Mpumalanga, today.
The arrest follows a complaint by a motorist on Sunday, alleging he was forced to pay R800 after being pulled over at a weighbridge, Middleburg Observer reported.
Members of the The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) arrested the officer and confiscated money found in his pockets.
His name cannot be made public before his court appearance.
