Security guard arrested in fatal Ladysmith shooting case

A firearm has been recovered from the crime scene.

A security guard has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man on Madras Road in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday night.

The Ladysmith Gazette reports that police released the name of the victim as Shivan Singh. The publication further confirmed a security guard who worked at Dave’s Panelbeaters was arrested in connection with the shooting. A firearm, which is alleged to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the scene as well.

At about 9.45pm on Saturday, Ladysmith police received a call of a person lying on the ground on Madras Road.

On arrival at the scene, they discovered a 21-year-old man had been shot and killed. The motive of the killing is not known at this stage and police are investigating a murder case.
