It was a rude awakening – Antipas

AmaZulu coach Joey Antipas blamed his players’ attitude for their 4-0 loss to Thanda Royal Zulu.

Antipas’ side suffered the defeat in the KZN Premier’s Cup at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Saturday. Usuthu won a preseason tournament, the Uthungulu Mayoral Cup, last month in KZN.

The former Chicken Inn coach said his team still had a lot of work to do before the start of the new season.

“We weren’t in the game at all because we gave them lots of time, room and space to play in. They made full use of the extra man that they had,” Antipas told the club’s website.

“I give credit to Thanda Royal Zulu. They played a great game, but personally for me it was a rude awakening. It’s still early days; we’re still trying to build a squad that can challenge in the league.

“We’ve got lots and lots of room to improve. We need to change our attitude because I believe our body language just wasn’t right.”
