The ‘prophet’ wants the SABC to pay back R536k for not flighting ads the broadcaster claims breached its religious broadcasting policy.

The SABC has confirmed to Sunday tabloid Sunday World that they are currently in a dispute with Incredible Happenings Ministries “prophet” Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng.

The pastor is accusing the national broadcaster of “swindling” him out of more than half a million rand in airtime that he paid to promote his church. He has reportedly acquired the services of an audit firm and threatened legal action.

The tabloid claims to have seen emails between Mboro and the audit firm that suggest that Mboro’s Ukhozi FM shows were first “cancelled without explanation” and then had the cancellation attributed to “technical glitches” by the SABC. He also allegedly accused the SABC of not playing his full shows, or not playing them at all.

Mboro is apparently upset about also paying for TV airtime, with nothing being aired, and said he was given a raw deal despite making several charitable donations to the broadcaster’s social programmes with the department of education and a drive to help the elderly at Lesedi FM.

The SABC confirmed the dispute and said some of the paid advertisements had violated the broadcaster’s religious broadcasting policy and thus been terminated. They said they would refund the pastor, but not for the full R536 000 he was claiming.

Pastor Mboro himself declined to comment to the paper.
