A tiger roaming the streets in the east of Pretoria left residents’ mouths agape on Friday morning, Pretoria East Rekord reports.
They were shocked to spot the animal near the fence of The Meadows estate at about 7am. It later emerged the tiger came from The Farm Inn in Silverlakes.
The Farm Inn owner, Pedro Michaletos, said an investigation had been launched to ascertain how the tiger got out of its enclosure.
“I did not realise that my tiger was outside. I only became aware of this when photos of my wandering cat were put on Facebook.”
Michaletos said the tiger was back in its enclosure at The Farm Inn.
Earlier this year, a lion was spotted in the streets of Braamfontein, in Johannesburg. The cat was part of a filming crew on the night of April 11.
The incident turned into a viral sensation on social media.
