The accident happened on the P91 early on Friday morning.

A 16-year-old school boy from Hoërskool Birchleigh, on the East Rand was left seriously injured after he was hit by a car while on his way to school.

Russel Meiring of ER24 said paramedics arrived on the scene at shortly after 7am and found the young patient lying on the side of the road with the vehicle parked a few metres away, Kempton Express reported.

“On assessment, paramedics found the patient had sustained serious injuries to his legs, leaving him in a serious condition. Paramedics treated the child and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, he was transported to Tembisa Hospital,” Meiring said.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
