Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa commended Tashreeq Morris for being part of the South African national Under-23 team that competed at the Rio Olympic Games.

Morris suffered a knee injury during the final of the Nedbank Cup last season, however, he came back strongly and was club’s top scorer in the 2014/2015 season.

“Many people will remember the Nedbank Cup final against Sundowns where he got injured and spent six to seven months out. He went on a massive rehabilitation programme here and came back in the second half of the season for us, but we didn’t see the best of him just yet, he’s got a long way to go, but in the end he did well enough to get a call-up to the Olympics. We are all very happy for him. Our boys have done their best to make us proud and we certainly are very proud of all of them,” De Sa told the club’s official website.

Unfortunately, the 21-year old Morris will be heading back home with the rest of the Under-23 team after they failed to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.
