Fires in and around George under control

No injuries have been reported as of yet.

The George Fire Brigade has confirmed that from last night, all fires in George were under control, reports George Herald.
A message received from the George Municipality states that fires in Wilderness were also under control.

The situation was monitored throughout the night.

Unfortunately two houses on Lake Road and two houses on Third Avenue were lost in the blaze, according to the George Municipality Facebook page. George Fire Brigade were assisted by Cape Nature, National Sea Rescue Institute and Fire Protection Association of South Africa.

The Wilderness Hotel offered accommodation to people who lost their homes, and Spar and Cocomo’s in Wilderness also donated meals to the fire fighters and victims of the blazes.

 The extent of the damage caused by fires in and around George today is not yet known.
According to Eden Disaster Management, no one has been injured.
