10 suspects nabbed with stolen vehicles in Ladysmith

Police also recovered an illegal 9mm firearm, ammunition, a cutting torch, gloves and cable ties from the suspects.

Police nabbed 10 suspects in Ladysmith after they were found to be in possession of two stolen vehicles, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, reports the Ladysmith Gazette.

Early on Wednesday morning, four men, aged between 21 and 31, were found seated in a parked VW Polo in the Acacivale area. Police interviewed the men, searched the vehicle and found they were in possession of gloves and cable ties. They further found that the vehicle had been stolen late last year in Westville, Durban.

Further investigation led to the arrest of six other suspects, aged between 21 and 38, in the St Chads area. The suspects were driving a white BMW which had been stolen earlier this year in Cleveland.

Police found the men were in possession of an illegal 9mm firearm, ammunition and a cutting torch. It is suspected that the men are linked to a spate of robberies that have taken place in the area recently.

The two vehicles have been impounded and police are busy profiling the suspects. All 10 men will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrates’ Court today.
