Kaizer Chiefs’ hard tackling midfielder, Willard Katsande, says the team are not worried about results as they prepare for the Absa Premiership.

Amakhosi came off second-best in the Fame Limpopo Charity Cup last weekend where they lost 3-0 to Baroka FC on penalties.

“We know results matter every time that we play, but during pre-season we are testing a number of elements in the game,” said Katsande this week.

Salt and Vinegar, as Katsande is fondly known in local football circles, said this is a time for the team to try different formations and tactics without the pressure of producing results.

“We are perfecting some of the tactics. We are also cautious not to give away too much detail to the opponents at this stage of the pre-season.”

Katsande also revealed that the team are now hungry for official games as they aim to make amends for last season’s disappointments.

“We are ready to kick off the league programme. We can’t wait because we are motivated to do well and give our supporters something to cheer about,” said the Zimbabwean national team captain.

The Naturena-based team kick off their Premiership programme with a game that should be challenging against their Johannesburg rivals, Bidvest Wits, on August 23.
