Paramedics in Cape Town have on Thursday confirmed an incident that left a construction worker in a critical condition after falling 5m. The man was working at a construction site on Ocean View Drive in Sea Point when he apparently lost his footing.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics en route to hospital were flagged down by a member of the public.

“On scene, paramedics found the patient lying on his back surrounded by a number of his colleagues, busy providing him with first aid,” Meiring said.

He was taken to the Christiaan Barnard Hospital for further treatment.
