The team will take on 2016 Nedbank Cup champions, SuperSport United, at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton on September 4.
Tickets to the match will be free to the public from Computicket.
The 18-member squad was hand-picked by esteemed local coaches, Shakes Mashaba (Bafana Bafana), Owen Da Gama (national Under-23), Khabo Zondo (former Tembisa Classic and Golden Arrows) and Mike Mangena (former Moroka Swallows).
These players stood out amongst 2 500 talented footballers who were also trying to secure a spot in the team that will be drafted into the 16 PSL teams for a month, to try and impress the coaches and advance their careers.
Not only were the boys exposed to the best training methods and facilities, but Nedbank also ensured that they were equipped with the necessary financial and lifestyle management tools and tips to enable them to realize their goals on and off the pitch.
“Football is a lot like managing your finances. You must have a goal, work hard and find a financial partner to guide you as you make things happen,” said Nedbank Group executive for group marketing, communications and corporate affairs, Thulani Sibeko.
Since its inception in 2012, the annual Nedbank Ke Yona team search has unearthed more than 13 players who are now plying their trade in professional teams in the National First Division and Premier Soccer League.
Cape Town City’s Aubrey Modiba is currently representing the men’s Under-23 team at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Modiba was named the 2016 PSL Young Player of the Season.
