The body of a man, who is believed to have been a car guard, was discovered in the water near Margate Pier early this morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said members from Search and Rescue SAPS, Port Shepstone, received a call and responded.
Captain Mfeka said the man was stabbed twice, once in the chest and once in the back.
“The man is thought to be about 35 years old. It appears he may have been stabbed before being dragged into the water,” said Captain Mfeka.
He added that the man had not been identified as yet, and that a case of murder has been opened.
