Cops hunt Muldersdrift taxi murder suspect

Without saying a word, the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire on a taxi driver at the Cradlestone Mall a week ago.

Police are on the hunt for a murder suspect following a shooting incident at the taxi rank next to Cradlestone Mall last week, reports Krugersdorp News.

The manhunt follows after police received a complaint of a shooting at the taxi rank on August 4 at 7.20pm.

“At the scene police found a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood,” Muldersdrift Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.

An eyewitness told police the taxi was about to depart from the rank with about 11 passengers ready to board when suddenly an unknown man came to the driver’s side.

“Without a word, the unknown suspect pulled [out] his firearm and shot the victim multiple times in his upper body. The victim tried to run away from the assailant but collapsed. It’s further alleged that the gun-wielding man followed the victim and continued shooting while he was on the ground pleading for his life.”

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The victim was certified dead by paramedics upon their arrival minutes later.

“Muldersdrift police are appealing for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator. We are appealing to the public not to confront the suspect as he is deemed extremely dangerous.”
