In July the court ordered the young man accused of his mother’s murder to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

The case against the son of former SABC board member Hope Zinde, who has been accused of her murder, will be heard in the Brits Regional Court in North West this morning.

In July the court had ordered Mark Warona Zinde, 23, to undergo psychiatric evaluation after a bed was made available for him at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria. The case was then postponed to August 10 for inquiry.

He is accused of killing his mother at their home in Pecanwood Estate near Hartbeespoort Dam in North West. He is also facing a charge of murder and possession of drugs.

The court is expected to announce if Zinde’s son is fit to stand trial.
