Chiefs lost the game 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on December 16 last year.
According to the Sunday World, The shocking news, which allegedly drove a wedge between Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane and Komphela, was leaked by two highly-placed sources who are privy to the affairs of both teams.
Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung downplayed the allegations.
“We have not received any report from the coach about those allegations. If such a thing happened we would have acted a long time ago because that is a serious matter,” Motaung said.
He said mischievous people who want to create animosity between the two clubs had spread the allegations.
“It’s similar to the rumours people are spreading about Rama (Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s transfer dispute from Sundowns to Chiefs), there is no such.
“We will definitely speak to the coach and find out if it is true because it is a serious matter.”
Xulu, who is still facing uncertain future at Chiefs, has four more years remaining on his current deal with Amakhosi.
