Mlambo, who had an impressive season with the Chilli Boys last season, joined the Students during the current transfer period.
“I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the club in its entirety to wish Xola all the best at Bidvest Wits. He has been a key player for us and we had no intention to sell, hence we gave him a three year deal at the start of the season,” Mpengesi told the club’s website.
“We turned down a couple of proposals from Bidvest Wits, but their final offer was very serious. Following consultation with the Management and the Head Coach we reached an agreement with Wits.
“We thank Xola for his dedication and discipline, it was easy to pick up from his first day with us that he is a well-mannered, humble and rooted young man. He is an example to aspiring players, and with his potential he also could have led the Club in future. We have no doubt that he is going to be a powerhouse in South African football.
“I also want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Bidvest Wits for their professionalism during our negotiations.”
