A man was airlifted to hospital after he had sustained critical injuries in a car fire in Randgate, Randfontein on the West Rand.
According to an eyewitness the car with its three occupants caught fire at about 5.30pm on Sunday while stopping at the intersection, Randfontein Herald reported.
Community Police Forum patrollers where on scene first and contacted the Randfontein fire department for assistance. They arrived shortly afterwards and extinguished the fire.
Paramedics assessed the occupants and the critically injured man subsequently was airlifted to Netcare Milpark Hospital by a Netcare 911 helicopter for urgent medical attention.
It is uncertain what exactly caused the car to catch fire.
