According to the Sunday World, Sangweni’s BMW 4 series cabriolet was repossessed from his rented Southgate townhouse last month.
Sangweni, who announced his retirement from football in April this year, confirmed to the newspaper that he had lost his set of wheels.
“The car was involved in an accident and the insurance refused to pay. I stopped paying for it. They took it back, but I will continue to pay the instalment when I’m financially okay.”
Sangweni also said to be in trouble with Wesbank Motors, African Bank and Standard Bank Vehicle Finance after also failing to keep up with the loan agreements.
Sangweni becomes the latest football figure to lose his prized wheels after Mamelodi Sundowns star Teko Modise had his expensive Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT repossessed after failing to keep up with instalments.
Modise was reportedly six months behind with his repayments.
