Unidentified body recovered from sea in Durban

The sea rescue craft Megan II was launched, accompanied by police search and rescue divers.

The National Sea Rescue Institute has on Sunday said that the body of an unidentified man was recovered from the sea near the Umgeni River in Durban.

NSRI Durban duty crew were activated at 8am by the Transnet National Ports Authority following a report from the fishing ski-boat “Game Fish” that they had happened upon a body floating offshore of the Umgeni River, NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said.

The sea rescue craft Megan II was launched, accompanied by police search and rescue divers. On arrival on the scene the body of an unidentified man was located and recovered on to the rescue craft and brought to shore. Police opened an inquest docket, he said.
