He was found guilty of stealing two vehicles belonging to two victims he duped into handing over vehicles under false pretences.

A North West man was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in the Kempton Park Regional Court on Thursday for stealing two cars at OR Tambo International Airport.

The SA Police Service detective team that has worked tirelessly to trace and eventually arrest Emmanuel Peter Nkoana, 31, has welcomed the lengthy sentenced handed down, Kemton Express reported.

Nkoana was found guilty of stealing two vehicles belonging to two victims he duped into handing over vehicles under false pretences. His arrest in March this year came as a result of an extensive manhunt launched by the detective task team based at the airport. He was arrested in March in Makapanstad, North West.

All of Nkoana’s victims told the police he told them he was employed by a company based at the airport and that he had things that needed to be collected.

Once at the airport, Nkoana would then feign the story to the effect that he had forgotten something in the vehicle, thus taking the key from the victim before disappearing with their vehicles.

He was later pointed out by the victims during an identity parade.
