Bloemfontein Celtic managing director Rali Ramabodu dismissed reports that the club had extended Thapelo Morena’s contract.

Morena has expressed his desire to leave the club to join a PSL side that will take part in the Caf Champions League, and the player has publicly denied signing a new contract with the Free State outfit. The midfielder is currently in Rio with the South African men’s team for the 2016 Olympics.

Ramabodu addressed reports that the midfielder had agreed to extend his stay at Siwelele at the end of the 2015/2016 season. The club’s managing director says the club increased Morena’s salary as he still has a contract with the club.

“I would want to correct the statement that Morena’s contract was extended by the club, his contract was not extended by the club, what we did was improve his salary, that’s all the team has done. Thapelo is staying with the team as far as I know.”
