Get your slippers ready and don’t forget to buy your Slipper Day sticker. That is what you need to take part in Slipper Day tomorrow. Slipper Day is an initiative by Reach For A Dream and Wimpy which invites all South Africans to wear their slippers to work, school or anywhere they wish, in aid of helping children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
To support this cause, participants must purchase a R10 Slipper Day sticker from Wimpy. With every 500 stickers sold, one dream can be fulfilled. For the third year running, you can purchase your stickers from any Wimpy outlet.
Wimpy is also further supporting this initiative by rewarding all Wimpy customers with a free cup of coffee if they arrive in-store wearing their slippers and sticker tomorrow, the organisers said in a statement.
Ayanda Peppeta, brand manager at Wimpy, said stickers sold had resulted in more than R2 million raised for Reach For A Dream and the children they support. Reach For A Dream has been dedicated to making dreams come true for 28 years.
“Slipper Day funds and proceeds go towards putting a smile on our Dream Children’s faces.” Bronwyn Feldwick-Davis, national marketing and communications manager from Reach For A Dream, said: “Nothing makes us happier than fulfilling a dream and allowing for these children and their families to forget about their battle, even if it is just for five minutes.”
