Police recovered a firearm and two cartridges. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

Western Cape police have on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old alleged gangster for shooting and killing a man in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said the man had been walking with friends on Monday at 11.50pm when they were approached by three unknown men “who randomly shot the deceased and fled on foot”.

The shooting happened in Langeberg street in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.

Van Wyk said police responded to the shooting and found the body of a 27-year-old man with a bullet wound to his head.

Police recovered a firearm and two cartridges. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
