Former Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu defender Robyn Johannes has signed with Cape Town City FC.

Johannes has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.

Johannes says he is delighted to be back in the Mother City after the club announced their latest signing on their official Twitter account.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to be back in my home town and playing for Cape Town City,” said Johannes. “I have been away from Cape Town since I was 14, and to come back here was also a big desire for me.”

Club owner John Comitis believes Johannes experience will make a telling contribution to their squad.

“We needed depth in the defence and Robyn has come to preseason extremely fit and in excellent condition,” he said.

“You cannot deny his experience and you can see his anticipation on the field.

“He’s a player that has played many games in the PSL, and that’s the kind of team player you need in the squad, and in the change room.”

“We didn’t hesitate to sign him when we saw the quality of football he was putting out at training.”
