South African U20 international and Bidvest Wits striker Liam Jordan has signed for Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

The 18-year-old has secured a move to Europe  following his great performance for Wits’ reserve side in the Multichoice Diski Challenge.

Jordan will be with the Portuguese outfit on loan for a year with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Jordan’s agent, Glyn Binkin, confirmed the move on his Twitter account.

“For any South African player it is a dream to play in Europe,” the 18-year-old told Sporting’s website.

“To do it at Sporting CP is a great achievement and I’m now preparing myself to do my best and help the club in any way that I can.

“As a player I like to score as many goals as possible and decide games. I want everyone to see the potential in me that the club saw.”
