A man in his 30s sustained fatal injuries after the car he is believed to have been driving crashed into a tree off the M26 (Erasmia Road) in Gerhardsville near Centurion last night.
Emer-G-Med paramedics, as well as paramedics from other services, responded to the scene just after 10pm and found the occupants of the vehicle lying on the ground.
Spokesperson for Emer-G-Med Max Cohen described how the paramedics found that the man, who was believed to have been the driver, showed no signs of life and was declared dead on the scene.
“One female patient sustained a severe head injury and was in a critical condition, requiring rapid advanced life support intervention. The patient was intubated and put on life support before being rushed to hospital by another private ambulance service,” said Cohen.
“Three other patients, including two children aged two and 15, sustained moderate injuries. They were also treated on-scene before being transported to a nearby facility for further management.”
He said the police’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit were called to the scene to investigate further.
