The 59-year-old complained of not feeling well and went to sit in his bakkie, where his lifeless body was found 10 minutes later.

Motorcycle and drag racing champion Wayne Heasman passed away on Saturday after suffering what is believed to have been a heart attack.

The Roodepoort Record reports that an employee of Wayne Heasman Racing, Sandy Botha, said at about 9.30am the 59-year-old Wayne complained about not feeling well and that he was going to sit in his bakkie for a short while until he felt better. When employees went to check on him about 10 minutes later they found that he had died.

Botha said: “We are totally shocked and saddened. He was a good man, and loved by his employees and customers alike. Customers have not stopped calling and popping into the shop.”
