The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department have arrested three men at the Boksburg flea market after spotting a man allegedly selling drugs.
“At around noon the man was approached and arrested when drugs were found hidden in his underwear.”
EMPD spokesperson Lieutanant-Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said 32 ziplocks of crystal methamphetamine and Cat valued at R12 500 were retrieved from the suspect’s underwear.
“Hard cash amounting to R1 530, suspected to be proceeds from drug-dealing, was also confiscated from the suspect,” added Kgasago.
The 32-year-old Nigerian national was detained at Boksburg North police station after charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances were registered, Boksburg Advertiser reported.
Hardly half an hour after arresting the drug dealer, the hawk-eyed EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members nabbed another two men found with the drug Cat valued at R5 000 at the same place.
Kgasago said the two men were closely monitored and upon realising that they were being observed, the duo tried to run but were cornered and arrested.
“On their persons, the metro police found the drug as well as cash totaling R3 050. The two Nigerian nationals aged 28 and 30 were charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances at Boksburg North police station, where they were also detained,” said Kgasago.
All the suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
