Scores of EFF supporters donning the party’s red berets, overalls and T-shirts started making their way to the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane for the party’s final rally ahead of Wednesday’s local government elections.
The EFF is likely to use its rally as a show of force. It would be interesting to see if the 45 000-capacity stadium would be filled to its rafters.
When asked if the EFF would fill the stadium, party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi would only say: “We will see.”
The EFF, which is the official opposition in Limpopo, was dealt a blow last week when its leader Mike Mathebe rejoined the ANC.
EFF Limpopo secretary Jossey Buthane said they were expecting thousands of people.
“We are going to get lot of people coming here,” he said.
However, Buthane said he was not sure about the number of buses ferrying people from across the country.
“We will not speak about the number of buses: those are the things the branches have organised themselves,” he said.
As the EFF supporters continued to make their way into the stadium, the crowd was being entertained by music.
