Chippa United have confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs left back Simphiwe Mtsweni on a three-year deal.

Chippa announced Mtsweni’s signing on the club’s official Twitter account.

“We can confirm the signing of Simphiwe Mtsweni on a three-year deal. He’s been training with the club for the past two weeks,” read the club’s tweet.

Mtsweni was among the 20 players that were deemed surplus to requirements by Chiefs coach Steve Komphela at the end of last season.

The 21-year-old defender did not have a good season at Amakhosi last season. He spent most of the season on the sidelines nursing an injury before he was caught speeding in April.

He was caught going at 196km/h on the N12 freeway in Alberton.
