SuperSport United are still negotiating with Mamelodi Sundowns in a bid to sign central defender Mario Booysen.

Phakaaathi understands that SuperSport have been put off by Sundowns’ asking price for the 27 year-old, believe to be in the region of R6 million.

Booysen has just a year of his contract left to run at Choorklop.

He joined SuperSport on loan from Sundowns in January and helped Matsatsantsa to win the Nedbank Cup and finish in the top eight in the Absa Premiership.

There is also the possibility that SuperSport could sign Booysen on another loan deal.

Booysen signed for Sundowns in 2014 from Maritzburg United and played 17 times in all competitions for the Brazilians in the 2014/15 season.

Last season, however, he did not feature before his loan move.

SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews could not be reached when contacted by Phakaaathi on Wednesday.
