The traumatised victims said they were forced to have sex with numerous men.

Between 50 and 60 child traffic victims, some as young as eight years old, were rescued by police when the truck they were held in was intercepted by police near Potchefstroom, Zululand Observer reported.

It is believed the children, of whom two thirds are reportedly male, were on their way to Cape Town from an African country far north.

Three suspected traffickers were arrested and the children have been taken to places of safety.

The arrests reportedly happened over the weekend, but owing to the sensitive nature of the investigation, the case was held under wraps.

Two weeks ago, 16 young girls held as sex slaves were rescued from a house in Kempton Park.

The traumatised victims said they were forced to have sex with numerous men.

The youngest victim was only 15.

Acting national police commissioner Lieutenant General Khomotso Phahlane said she would later today address the media at the SAPS Tshwane Training Academy in Pretoria.
