Mamelodi Sundowns’ new recruit Lucky Mohomi says he always had a dream to play for the Brazilians, even though he grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs.

“I grew up in Mamelodi, Pretoria, and I always told myself that one day I want to play for the team from my hometown,” Mohomi said in an interview with the SABC.

Mohomi, who spent only one season with Free State Stars from Garankuwa United, was one of the outstanding performers at Ea Lla Kota last season.

“A couple of years ago I was playing for Garankuwa United, now I’m here. I was working very hard chasing a dream and everyone around me was supporting me,” added Mohomi.

The midfielder believes his hard work at Stars last season is the reason that Pitso Mosimane lured him to Sundowns.

“Things just went well for me, through hard work and now I’m here. The dream I had all these years while growing up has finally come true.”

Asked if he is former Downs sensational central midfielder Bongani Zungu’s replacement, Mohomi said he was looking to achieve more than what Zungu achieved at the team.

“I don’t regard myself as Zungu’s replacement. He did his bit for the team and I’m here to do mine. And hopefully do more than he did.”
