Six children were injured on their way to school in Pietermaritzburg this morning when two taxis collided.

According to the ER24 blog, paramedics attended to the scene at the French and Prince Albert Road intersection in Pietermaritzburg where the children and one adult were injured in the collision.

It is believed that one of the taxis failed to stop at the traffic light, apparently causing the collision and that heavy rains were a contributing factor, the ER24 blog read.

“Upon inspection, paramedics found that seven people from the second taxi had been injured in the collision. Six of the patients were children aged between 13 and 16, believed to be on their way to school,” the blog read.

ER24 paramedics treated the patients and then took them to Edendale Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
