Two appear in Taung court for ‘stealing cattle’

Police discovered the four stolen cows at an auction held in Kuruman, in the Northern Cape.

Two men are expected to appear in Taung Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly stealing cattle, North West police said.

Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the two suspects, aged 28 and 37, were arrested on Friday when police discovered four cows at an auction held in Kuruman, in the Northern Cape.

“The four cows were allegedly stolen in Moretele village, near Pudimoe. It was established after questioning of the suspects that the cows were stolen in Moretele, then handed to the suspects’ associates in Dithakwaneng village, near Vryburg, to facilitate the sale in Kuruman.”

The pair have been charged with stock theft.
